The Legend of Drunken Tiger Online Cancelled: Supercat Dissolves Team After Development Problems

The Legend of Drunken Tiger Online CBT

The project The Legend of Drunken Tiger Online, a RPG for PC, iOS, and Android, has been canceled by its developers, Supercat. The news, confirmed on January 8, follows a public beta testing phase that apparently did not meet the expectations of the company or the players.

Reasons for the Cancellation

According to an official statement from Supercat, the decision was made after analyzing feedback received during the beta and following extensive discussions with the developer and publisher, Nexon.

We concluded that we could not deliver a final product that would satisfy players,” stated a company spokesperson. As a result of this decision, Supercat has disbanded the development team and offered voluntary resignation options to its employees.

Background of "The Legend of Drunken Tiger Online"

The Legend of Drunken Tiger Online was an adaptation of the classic Compile game of the same name. The project was first announced in 2022 and had a notable showcase at Nexon’s G-Star 2024, where a playable demo was also presented to the public. A beta testing phase was later conducted in November of that same year, which had raised expectations for an imminent release.

The game promised a massive multiplayer online role-playing experience that, unfortunately, will not come to fruition. The specific reasons behind player dissatisfaction have not been detailed by Supercat, but the company has emphasized that their priority is the quality of the final product.

Focus on Future Projects

However, not all the news is bad. Supercat and Nexon have announced that they will focus their efforts on the development of “Kingdom of the Wind 2”, another cross-platform MMORPG announced at G-Star 2024. This project, previously known as “Project G,” has a development and publishing agreement between both companies and is expected to arrive on PC and mobile devices.
