HoYoverse has confirmed that Zenless Zone Zero 1.2 update, titled Desolate Outskirts, will be released on September 25. Players will enter the Outer Ring, a desolate area on the outskirts of New Eridu, and collaborate with the Sons of Calydon, a gang led by Caesar and Burnice.
Exploration and new characters
The new storyline will take players to the Outer Ring, an arid but resource-rich area that has caused conflicts between various factions. In this adventure, players will be able to work alongside the Sons of Calydon, helping them fight the Vanquishers and their leader, Pompey, while exploring this new territory. In addition, Caesar and Burnice will join as playable characters, both S-grade, each with unique abilities that will contribute to the team’s combat and defense. Caesar, with his defensive and blocking abilities, will be instrumental in protecting the team, while Burnice will stand out with her igneous attacks and ability to cause sustained damage.

New events and game modes
New features include the Overlord Feast event, where exclusive rewards will be available, including the new agent Lucy. The Bizarre Brigade mini-game, a time-limited survival and shooting challenge, will also be added. On the other hand, the Investigator Training Course will allow players to upgrade their agents quickly and unlock new rewards by participating in this new HIA mode.
Optimizations and improvements
Version 1.2 also comes with gameplay optimizations. Players will now be able to pre-configure their combat teams, automatically obtain rewards and enjoy a smoother experience with improvements to the TV mode, time and stamina system, allowing for better management of game resources.
September 25 marks the launch of a new era for Zenless Zone Zero with Desolate Outskirts, an expansion that promises not only new characters and quests, but also a series of events and upgrades that will guarantee hours of fun in New Eridu.
