Com2uS revives Destiny Child: New Inactive RPG game

Destiny Child RPG Com2Us

Destiny Child, the subculture-style mobile game developed by Shift Up, is set to return to the market in the form of a new idle RPG. Com2uS announced on November 6, 2024 that it has signed a contract with Shift Up to develop and globally distribute a new version of the game, this time in idle format. The release is being developed by the subsidiary Tikitaka Studio, which specializes in this type of game mechanics, and will be distributed internationally by Com2uS.

A New Chance for Destiny Child

Initially released in 2016, Destiny Child captured the public’s attention thanks to its innovative use of Live 2D, which allowed characters to animate in a unique way on screen. The title amassed a strong fanbase that lamented its closure in September 2023. Faced with this fan demand, Com2uS and Shift Up have decided to revive the franchise, this time with a focus on inactive gameplay, which allows players to progress without the need to constantly interact with the game.

A Focus on Innovation and Nostalgia

According to Com2uS representatives, the collaboration with Shift Up and Tikitaka Studio will combine the nostalgia and distinctive elements of Destiny Child with a new gaming experience that will be accessible and appealing to a wider audience. “Our goal is to intensify the essence of the IP while delivering an immersive and comfortable experience for players. With our ability to manage global services, we will look to expand the reach of the game in major international markets,” said a Com2uS spokesperson.

The Potential of Dormant Games in Today's Marketplace

The idle game genre has gained popularity in recent years thanks to its accessibility and ability to offer progress without requiring constant attention, an advantage in today’s mobile industry. With the return of Destiny Child, Com2uS and Tikitaka Studio are looking to capitalize on this growing interest, especially among fans of subculture-style games and those who value distinctive visual game design.
