Service Suspension of Girls’ Frontline in Mainland China

Girls' Frontline service suspension in china

Girls’ Frontline, a popular tactical mobile game developed by MICA Team and published by Chengdu Digital Sky Technology Co., Ltd. in China, has announced the suspension of its national service in Mainland China. This decision marks the end of a significant era, as the game has been enjoyed by millions of “Commanders” since its initial beta release on May 20, 2016. Despite ongoing efforts to renew the agreement between MICA Team and Chengdu Digital Sky, a consensus was not reached. As a result, operations for the national service version will cease on December 31, 2024.

Suspension Timeline and Service Changes

To ensure a smooth transition, the developers have released a timeline for the upcoming service changes, detailing the following:

  • October 31, 2024: Game downloads and new user registrations will be disabled. Commanders will no longer be able to download the game.
  • November 30, 2024: All in-game recharges will be halted.
  • December 31, 2024: At 10:00 AM, the servers will be permanently shut down, and players will no longer have access to the game.

Users are advised that any remaining virtual currency within the game must be used prior to the official termination. After December 31, 2024, unspent virtual currency will no longer be accessible.

For details on compensation measures, users can refer to the official Compensation Announcement on Bilibili.

Plans for a Future Version of Girls’ Frontline

The creators have expressed a commitment to continuing the Girls’ Frontline story in new formats and platforms. For Commanders who wish to carry over their game progress, an option to transfer data to a future version of the game is being prepared. MICA Team encourages fans to stay connected through the official Girls’ Frontline website and social media channels for updates on the game’s next iteration.

Impact on Global Servers

It is important to note that this suspension applies solely to the Chinese national server. Other global servers, including the English (EN) server, will continue to operate as usual. MICA Team assures players that activities on international servers remain unaffected by the agreement issues impacting the national service in Mainland China.
